PRESS RELEASE: Patient Lodging Partnership During Pandemic – Toronto-based StayWell Charity announces formal partnership with Sky View Suites

Tuesday August 25th 2020

Following the closure or significantly reduced capacity of Ronald McDonald House and other similar patient lodging centers due to COVID-19, StayWell Charity (www.staywell.charity) has entered into a partnership with Sky View Suites (www.skyviewsuites.com), a local corporate-housing company, in order to help patients and their families during the pandemic.

StayWell, through its relationships with various Toronto hospitals, is acutely aware of the lack of suitable accommodations for patients and their families who need to temporarily relocate to downtown Toronto for medical treatment – an issue that has been exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic and the closure of existing facilities.

As part of the collaboration, Sky View Suites has agreed to provide a portion of its inventory of furnished rentals in the downtown core to StayWell guests at significantly reduced rates. The two organizations will also be working together to approach additional individual property owners with vacant units to join the program to expand available inventory.

StayWell believes that pivoting corporate housing inventory in this way will provide patients with a unique blend of quality accommodations, and also serve as a win-win for property owners and operators during this time (while giving them an opportunity to step up and help patients, frontline healthcare workers and the community in general).
